BBMP Agencies partners with RentSher for equipment to be used in upcoming Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election

RentSher will provide electronic rentals like laptops and screens to BBMP for the training of election officers and the counting of votes

Bangalore, May 09, 2018: RentSher – a leading online product rental marketplace and aggregator – announced today that it was helping the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), to provide the municipal body electronic equipment on short-term rentals for the upcoming elections in the state. With the polling date of 12th May 2018 fast-approaching, BBMP voluntary agencies are leaning on RentSher to provide projectors, speakers, large-screen TVs, laptops, and desktops that will be used for election training in schools, colleges, and volunteer organizations, as well as for election counting purposes.

The Election Commission of India has been steadily ramping up the use of technology in the elections organized by it across the country, and is intending to deploy VVPAT machines, a digital security net, and a geographic information system (GIS) for these vital upcoming regional elections in Karnataka. This has created an urgent short-term requirement for a large number of laptops, tablets, TVs, and PA systems, to enable these officers and volunteers to conduct a free and fair election. In this vital and crucial exercise that forms the bedrock of democracy, RentSher is the only provider for customized rentals in the short-term that could meet the BBMP’s requirement.

The company has already executed 7-8 bulk orders, and are expecting 12-15 more by 15th of May, 2018. Prior to the BBMP, several political parties had already rented several LED walls and projectors for election campaign purposes. Buoyed by this demand, RentSher is already exploring an expansion of its delivery and support footprint for the election to extend beyond Bengaluru.

Commenting on the development, Harsh Dhand, Co-founder and CEO, RentSher, said, “While there is a general sentiment to be wary of government projects done by startups, as RentSher, we have worked with state and city governments very often over the last few years. We have found them to be very agreeable partners, who have enjoyed utilizing our services and we have had no problems working with them. In addition to the financial incentive for fulfilling these orders, we are extremely honoured to play a part in the wonderful exercise of our democratic rights in the largest democracy in the world.”

Priyamwada Trivedi, VP and Category Head – Electronics and A/V Rentals, RentSher, said, “RentSher’s USP is the convenience and ease we provide in the realm of rentals, which has been of great benefit to BBMP. Even if you try to buy these products off the internet, it takes a minimum of 48 hours; we use our extensive network and partners to get the product delivered in 4-6 hours only. We also give our customers a free pick-up option, arriving within 24 hours of getting the request to take the products off their hands and returning it to the owner. Whether people are looking to watch a single IPL match or conduct elections, RentSher makes it happen for them!”

By virtue of relying on RentSher, the BBMP has already received quality equipment at low costs for short-term rentals quickly and conveniently, and is expected to order and receive more in the run-up to election day. In the meantime, RentSher is also looking to cater to this rising demand, especially with the nationwide General Elections expected to take place in the coming year.
