Bangalore 1st September, 2017– Round Table India and Ladies Circle India, in association with Timken Foundation, inaugurated a state-of-the-art auditorium at the Government Model Primary School in Hebbagodi, on the outskirts of Bangalore. The initiative to construct this advanced facility was taken to provide a platform for students to learn and practice Performing Arts while promoting their importance.
While Mr. Sanjay Koul, Chairman and Managing Director,Timken India Limited, inaugurated the ceremony, Mr.Christopher Arvinth, President of Round Table India, and MsMadhuriGattani, Chairperson of Ladies Circle, Area 6, presided over the event.
In 2011, Round Table India and Ladies Circle India had built four classroom blocks at the school. This was done to improve the quality of education by providing the right infrastructure and resources that might aid the school in imparting quality education. Post its success in providing basic education, the focus was now on providing equally-important skills like Performing Arts. To encourage Drama, Theatre, Dance and Music among children, the Timken Auditorium has been built to help the students develop skills in the practicing and performing the arts.
The auditorium has a unique structure and has mechanized load-bearing walls which are cladded with bricks externally. The structure has a lace-fence adorning its façade. Further, the auditorium is designed in such a way that all seats give people access to a proper view and acoustics with a capacity of 400-450 children.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Christopher Arvinth, President of Round Table India, said, “Art is a medium which is not given enough attention like other disciplines which are considered to be the sole subjects of learning. However, art is a sphere where creativity is fundamental, and is essential for all pupils along with the curriculum for a holistic growth. Thus, the auditorium is an effort to promote art among students for their comprehensive learning.”
Adding to this, Mr. Sanjay Koul,Chairman and Managing Director, of Timken India Limited, said, “Unfortunately, not many schools have access to amenities like auditoriums to tap the potential of students. Our hope is that this auditorium is used to its optimum level to bring out the best in the students and to promote art as a necessary part of the curriculum.”
